Strong Open Tournament All German Series Shidokan Karate
(5. German Shidokan Open)

Fight Time:

Preliminary Matches: 3 minutes, 1 minute overtime
Quarter- and semi-finals: 3 minutes, 2 minutes overtime
Finals: 3 minutes, 2 minutes overtime, 1 minute overtime

Tournament Style:

KO-System. The winner of a match advances to the next round, the loser is out. The losers of both semi-finals in each weight category will share the third place.

Age-/Weight-Classes:

Women (18 years +): -55 kg, -65 kg, +65 kg (Open Weight)
Men (18 years +): -63 kg, -73 kg, +73 kg (Open Weight)

Clothing:

White Karate Dogi must be worn. Sleeves must cover the elbows. Mouth Piece and Groin Protector is mandatory.

Ring:

Official Boxing Ring – approved by the promoter – will be used.

Legal Techniques:
All kicks and knee strikes to the leg, body, arm and head
Punches with the fist to the leg, body and arm
Elbow strikes to the leg, body and arm
Grabbing the opponent for 3 seconds during stand up to execute a clean technique
Throwing the opponent to the ground
Grappling on the ground for 5 seconds to execute a clean technique
Choking, arm- and leg locks during stand up and on the ground

Illegal Techniques:
Kicking and punching a downed opponent
Punches and elbows to the head
Throwing the opponent out of the ring
Throwing the opponent on the head or neck
All attacks to the groin area
Manipulation of small joints (fingers, toes)

Securing Points: Judging criteria Ippon matches
Ippon (2 waza-ari becomes ippon)
Judges consist of 1 chief referee with 2 points, 2 sub referees with 1 point x 2.
Decision criteria : 2 points or more by referees
2 fouls take off 1 point (considered as the same as waza-ari)
2 point deduction loses the match by fouls (same point as ippon)

How you can win:
The winner will be decided according to:
If one competitor gives up or submits by tapping the leg, arm or verbally
If one competitor gets knocked out or is unable to continue the fight in a proper way
If Referee feels one competitor is unable to defend himself or feels his life is in danger, the Referee will declare the winner
If a Fighter breaks the rules twice he will be disqualified by the Referee
