Kancho Soen began his martial arts training in Japan in Judo, Wado-ryu, Kendo, Boxing Kick Boxing and Kyokushinkai-Karate. He studied with acclaimed master Masutatsu Oyama for many years and emerged as one of his best students, earning the nickname “The Kyoskushin Tiger”
Approximately 25 years ago. Kancho Soeno separated from the Kyokushin organization to form the World Karate Association - The Shidokan, and has dedicated himself to the traditions or “Way of the Samurai”. He is the epitome of a true martial artist, and subsequently has become a living legend in the martial arts community not only in Japan, but also throughout the world. Besides running 20 karate dojos in Japan alone, Kancho Soeno oversees the Shidokan Karate Association in more than 30 countries worldwide.
